"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. "- Romans 8:28
Lately, I have been on the verge of giving up on a lot of things in life.I thought about quitting school and also quitting my position as Editor in Chief at Augusta University Odyssey. I thought my successes define who I was as a person. This is what society teaches us in which that we have to accomplish everything that is set before us. These long list of accomplishments determine where we as individuals will fall into society. I am here to say I truly realize that my successes do not equate to my purpose.
Your successes do not define your purpose in life. I know that is a hard pill to swallow. Understanding that your plans are not defined by your past mistakes or by your previous misconceptions on life. Learning to understand that your job does not equate to your purpose is also something we as a society need to learn.
When life feels like a complete chaos, I feel that anyone can relate to Romans 8:28. Your purpose nor who you are as an individual is defined by the actions previously said by you or done by others. While it is okay to struggle with finding what your purpose is, it is time for you to surround yourself with positive people.
Lately, I have felt that previously surrounded people who were beneficial for me but as life progresses people change. People sometimes change for the good and sometimes for the worst, but these changes are what separate us. Losing people in your life is a part of the overall picture that you can not see, but realizing that God has taken people out of your life and placed new people into your life for a reason.
So, it is time to understand that people will not define your purpose. The only entity that can define your purpose is God and understand that your calling is your gift. Your gift can empower so many people, so how will you let your power help others?
