HOW I GET MY WORK DONE WITH THE USE OF SELF MOTIVATION.

Self motivation is one of those phrases that is pretty self explanatory, but it is one of the hardest things to do . Especially when we have so much negativity in our minds that we can't think straight enough to be positive, so how will we motivate ourselves? It is very easy to give others advice on motivation but to follow it ourselves can be a very tricky thing.

When you have a huge pile of assignments or things that need to get done as soon as possible or even that same day, all you usually want to do is curl up in bed and watch Netflix or just sleep. At that exact moment is when you need to self motivate your self to get the ball rolling and shrink that pile of work into nothing left to do. Here are just a few things that I usually do when I need to motivate myself which I believe may help you get motivated as well.

1. Change Environment.

I know for a proven fact that I can not get assignments done at home AT ALL, no questions about it. Why you may ask? well at home I have so many distractions, tv, family, and most importantly my 4 month old who wants to play with mommy when she is home and not let her get her work done. To avoid all these distractions I usually go to the library, it can be a public library or the campus's library. Going to the same place, and sitting in the same environment can get boring after a while and can cause you to be un productive. In which case I would suggest changing it up a bit. When this starts happening to me, meaning when I become unmotivated at the library I choose a local cafe or even Barnes and Nobel, and go do my work there. If you have a personal office (how lucky) then I would suggest changing up the decor a bit, even adding something different or removing something makes a huge difference, and makes the space look newer and can help you motivate to get things done.

2. Music.

Music I believe is one of those things that can make or break your motivation so choose it wisely. I usually look up motivational music on YouTube, they have great selection, It is an acquired taste because it is usually classical music. I wouldn't recommend listening to your favorite genera of music because that will distract you more than motivate you to do work.

3. Lists

I'm a big fan of lists, best thing that I personally believe that you can do from being overwhelmed is make a list of all the assignments or things that you have to do. Then out of those make a list of things that are due that day. Then out of those make a list of 3 top priorities, then out of that figure out which is the most important and start work on that. If you have a huge assignment or a project, I would recommend breaking it down into segments and work from there. Making these lists helps me from freaking out over all the things that I have to do and from having a panic attack, because of all the things that needs to get done around or at the same time.

These are few of the things that I do to keep myself motivated in order to get my things done. Let me know in the comments if you like these ideas or if you have have anything different that keeps you motivated.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
