The real star of the show

Words of Wisdom From Pam Halpert

Pam Halpert (Beesly) is one of the main characters from the hit TV Comedy “The Office”. Pam is the average girl next door who starts off the show in a bad relationship and does a tremendous amount of soul-searching throughout the series. Pam and Jim will always be #relationshipgoals, but a lot of people forget that Pam is a pretty great girl all on her own (except for Jim of course). While she was figuring out who she wanted to be, Pam had a lot of wise words about life in general.

1.

Pam taught us that even the most ordinary things, like a lonely old office in Scranton, PA, can be the most beautiful in our life. She made us remember to appreciate the little things in life, even though they may seem insignificant.

2.

Even more importantly, Pam taught us that sometimes people will say things about you, and that's fine. She showed us that the most important things in life are being 100% true to you and getting a good meal at least once a day.

3.

Pam showed us that when you're truly where you are supposed to be, you'll know. Once you get to a point in life where you're happy with just the way things are, it's ok if you don't want to leave it.

4.

Pam showed us that no matter who you are, all it takes is a little courage to be a total badass. Most importantly, this part of Pam's journey taught us that it is always better to be honest and get things off of your chest than it is to stay miserable.

5.

Between calling off her wedding because she was in love with a man she didn't even know loved her back, going to art school to pursue her dream, and starting a family; Pam taught us that the truly worthwhile things in life are never a sure thing.

6.

Throughout the series, I spent a lot of time yelling at Pam on the TV, telling her to go for it because JIM WAS RIGHT THERE. Just like in real life, it took Pam a while to really figure out the right thing to do. Pam taught us that once you get to where you want to be, you can't spend time regretting not getting there sooner and forget to enjoy your life.

7.

Pam's journey taught us that there is no shame in following your dreams, even when it's not easy. She taught us that the most important thing in life is trusting yourself.

Personally, I think Pam is one of the most real and relatable women that's been on television in a long time. The most important thing about Pam, I think, is that she showed everyone watching that it's normal to not know what you want, to change your mind, and to be scared of how the future might turn out. Pam was just a normal girl that took a chance on having a great life and won. So thanks, Pam Halpert, for being so awesome.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
