Words To Get Through Midterms

The much dreaded time of midterms is among us. Somehow, teachers have managed to pile more exams, projects, and essays on us than finals. You can't let your grades slip away but you also can't find enough time in the day to get all of your work done. If you're anything like me, you're suffering from a lack of sleep, stress-eating, drinking three or more coffees a day and needing some motivation. Here are words to get you through:

"You are enough. You are so enough, it is unbelievable how enough you are." -Sierra Boggess

"You have to stop trying to control everything, because you can't stop certain things from happening.. Sometimes you're going to lose. Sometimes you're going to be last. People are not built to be perfect. People are meant to down and break for all the things they love." -R.M. Drake

"Next time you're stressed: Take a step back, inhale and laugh. Remember who you are are and why you're here. You've never given anything in this world that you cant handle. Be strong, be flexible, love yourself, and love others. Always remember, just keep moving forward."

"If you knew how capable you are, you'd stop worrying and start amazing yourself."

"Always make sure you find something to look forward to everyday. A cup of coffee tomorrow morning, wearing your favorite sweater this week, a phone call from your family, knowing you'll see your love on Friday. Having something to look forward to can mean all the difference between a shitty week, and a marvelous week."

"You are capable of more than you know."

"Breathe. It's okay. You're going to be okay. Just breathe and remind yourself of all the times in the past you felt this scared. All of the times you felt this anxious and this overwhelmed. All of the times you felt this level of pain. And remind yourself how each time, you made it through. Life has thrown so much at you, and despite how difficult things have been, you've survived. Breathe and trust that you can survive this too. Trust that this struggle is part of the process. And trust that as long as you don't give up and keep pushing forward, no matter how hopeless things see,. you will make it." -Daniell Koepke

"You're feeling burnt out and discouraged, but you've made it this far and I think that's really brave."

"I literally have to remind myself all the time, that being afraid of things going wrong isn't the way to make things go right."

"Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle." -Christian D. Larson

"Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome."

"I will breathe. I will think of solutions. I will not let my worry control me. I will not let my stress level break me. I will simply breathe. And it will be okay. Because I don't quit." -Shayne Mcclendon

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
