In today's society, so many people use certain words like they don't even have a real definition. Why? I will never know. Is it ridiculous? Of course. When will it end? Will it? Do we have the power to end it? Should we? Isn't it kind of disrespectful? Hopefully after this article you'll have a better view at responsible vocabulary usage, and you'll consider it when talking to people.

Let's start with the one word so many people just throw around like it's nothing. Rape. Why is it fun for people to use this word? Someone tackles you to the ground and you yell rape. You're walking to the gym at night and you laugh and say "I'll probably get raped or something." Why? Is it really that funny of a word? I think not. It's quite disrespectful. It wouldn't be funny if it happened, would it? So why joke about it. You say you don't like the word "moist" or "panties," but you should really reconsider what words you don't like. Take into consideration that people around you may not like you joking around about the word "rape" or even about the subject.

Next, is the word "retard." According to an online dictionary source, retard is...a mentally handicapped person (often used as a general term of abuse). Isn't it terrible that an online dictionary has to put that it's a term of abuse at the end? Why do we abuse the word retard? Just because someone does something stupid or dumb, people automatically call them a retard. It's ridiculous and stupid. It hurts those that really do have a mentally challenged, or retarded, family member or friend. It's rude, inconsiderate, and ignorant. It's 2016, shouldn't people know better than to throw around the term "retard?" If you hear someone say it in an inappropriate manner, why don't you step in and say something to them? Tell them to think about it, and if they would appreciate it if someone said that about someone in their family.

The last thing I want to talk about isn't a word, it's a phrase. Why do people always say "I'm gonna kill myself?" They throw it around like it truly has no meaning whatsoever. It's also rude and inconsiderate. So you get a 23/40 on a big exam, you run into a guy you think is cute, or you drop something on the floor. Are you serious when you say you're gonna kill yourself? I don't think you are. I know you're not. I'm sure it really hurts those people that have had a friend or family member try or succeed in committing suicide. I assure you, no one thinks it's funny, so why don't you just stop saying it all together?

We need to come to a realization that even the words we think mean nothing, mean everything to at least one person. "Rape, retard, and killing myself" all have a big affect on others. Let's take a stand, now, and stop others from saying these powerful and meaningful things. Spread the word to stop the words.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
