Tomorrow, America will be irrevocably changed. Obama will be on his way out of office and Trump, Hillary, Johnson, or Stein will be on their way in. Policies will be changed; new supreme court justices elected; judicial orders may (or may not) be reversed.
With all that change, here is a list of six things that will stay constant.
1. Your best friends, you know the ones you've had since kindergarten, or fifth grade, or college, the ones who have seen you through thick and thin. They'll still be there when you break up, or get married, or graduate.
2. Ice cream will still be amazing in all of its different flavors and textures.
3. Your childhood memories, the good, the bad, the ugly, will remain intact. You'll remember when you had bees as pets, or that time you rode an elephant with those people you can't remember, or that summer trip to Costa Rica.
4. Swimming will still be an amazing pass time. Whether swimming to you means tanning by the pool or chicken fighting with your brothers, it will still be the best way to pass the slow summer time.
5. Home cooked meals will still make you salivate. Especially if, like me, you're away at school and your mom is a plane ride away.
6. Thanksgiving will still be on its way! And you'll get to see old best friends and make new memories and eat that home cooked meal (or take out Chinese, whatever tradition you seem to have).
Don't get too down. Remember, November is a month of thankfulness so, even though our country's future might be rocky, take a moment to celebrate the things that won't change.
