Women's Rights

Women are still not treated equally

Women's Rights

Women until now have no rights. Not much has changed since the past decades: women still suffer everyday in different parts of the world. It clearly shows that we have a lot of fighting to do for our women. Women need our voices to be heard around the world. We all need to be treated equally as men, and deserve to be honored. A video I watched in class made me realize how cruel the world can still be. It made me appreciate my gender for who I was and where I was born. It made me appreciate the fact that I was born and living in a safe country. Where it is safe to be woman. Women in different parts of the world have no rights they have no right in any saying. No matter how old they are, they still have no right. In the different parts of the world especially Asia, and Africa women are treated like nothing. It means nothing to be a woman. A woman is just an object a thing, a woman is no other than just an object to the world. A decision has to be made upon someone else other than themselves. Basically her family members make their choice for them. They control their lives on how they're going to live it. No matter how old they are their is no independence for them. My great grandma at the age of 14 was married to a 26 year old man it was an arranged marriage. Where her parents made that choice upon her, it was not up to her what she wanted. She had to marry this man whether she liked it or not. All her life she was an unhappy person living and being married to this man. She was never at peace with him until he passed away. She then came forward how happy and relieved she was. She shared that she had peace on her mind after all these years. This an example of someone else making a choice for a woman. Especially a young girl who didn't have a voice to speak up. Girls are married to young to older men who have a high percentage of abusing them. For what? They did not ask to get married nor to have their lives controlled by their parents. Not much has changed over the decades on how the world and other cultures view women as. We need more women to speak up and defend their rights. Education should be the first priority in women's lives. At a young age little girls should be taught to be ambitious and strong. Education will open doors and much more opportunities, it can rise up leaders, Doctors, Teachers, and Presidents. Women are capable of helping, making a difference in this world. The only thing that can change that is by giving us a equality.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
