The Columbus North Women's Golf Team has a chance to be special this year. The question now becomes just how special will their year be? After back to back trips to the Indiana State Finals this years team will likely be taking aim at the grand prize: A team state championship.

As a former CNHS golfer myself, and older brother to a member of the team, I am a little biased. But there is a lot to like about this young group of golfers. Here are 5 reasons why this team is primed to have another stellar year and compete for a chance to win a state championship this October.

1. Experience

This years team has all five golfers that competed at Prairie View last year for the state finals. For everyone that has played competitive golf, you know that there is quite a difference between "casual" golfers, "tournament" golfers, and "win or go home tournament" golfers. Having experience at that level is a huge advantage for the lady Bull Dogs.

2. Chemistry

After watching a few of their tournaments the past few years I have noticed that not only do these girls like each other as teammates but most of them are friends off the course as well. Although golf is viewed as a team sport, there is always something to be said for wanting to play well for your teammates.

3. Humility

Each one of these team members seem to be extremely humble athletes that do not need any individual attention. They all want to play well for the name on the front of their shirts, not the name on the back. They are the first to congratulate their teammates after a great round as well as the other team when they have played a great round.

4. In-House competition

Another great attribute to this team is that they have much more than the five golfers that played in the state finals last year. They have several members of the team that will compete for varsity time and competition breeds excellence and this should help push each girl on the team to do their best to stay on top of their game.

5. Schedule

Columbus North does a great job of making sure they get an adequate amount practice on the sectional, regional, and state finals courses. It's important to know as much as you can about the course you are playing. Especially once you start getting down to those pressure cooker situations. In addition to playing these courses, the Lady Bulldogs also do a nice job of playing the top competition throughout the year so that they are no stranger at the end of the year.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.

Amidst my hectic college career, I always find time for one thing, even on the busiest weeks: Parks and Recreation. This show has made me laugh and has made me cry, but most of all I have related to this show more than I would like to admit.

April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation is notorious for her "I don't care" attitude. She speaks her mind without caring what anyone thinks of her. Fans love her because she isn't afraid to be herself. April can seem cold and negative, but she's really just fearless and strong-minded. And despite her sometimes harsh words, April truly cares about the people she's closest to. These are all reasons she is the epitome of a college student. April complains whenever she has to do any kind of work, but ends up doing the work anyway. April Ludgate is the ultimate college student spirit animal.

11 Ways To Live The Best Life You Can

Life is full of twists and turns, but you have to keep going.

Life is all about twist and turns, sideways and which ways. Nothing is permanent, so we should take risks, and chase our dreams. We are taught at a young age many lessons that will follow us into adulthood. What we aren't taught is how to feel, and how we handle those emotions. We just have to figure them out ourselves, and that's not fun. In my 21 years of living, I have come to know that way too many people can't handle emotions, or the fact that not everyone is dead inside like them. When you're like me, and you have zero control over your emotions, it's hard to feel comfortable around people who aren't so in touch with themselves. As much as I would like to feel nothing at times, I've accepted who I am and the fact that I can cry over practically nothing. So, there are some things in life that you just have to do.
