As International Women's Day passed, I began to think of all of the women I admire. They all come in different shapes and sizes; they have all been hurt or rejected. They aren't perfect, but they don't need to be. Having these amazing role models allows me to see past my downfalls and believe, one day, I, too, will be successful. Here are five powerful women I admire every day.

1. Oprah Winfrey

This lady has been through it all. Needless to say, she is filthy rich, a net worth of more than $3 billion. She has managed to soar into the broadcasting world, despite her troubling past. She has done it all without the help of a man and had every reason to give up on her dreams. She kept pushing, and that's what makes her unique.

2. Katie Couric

As a fellow journalist, I respect Katie's drive within her industry. She managed to move up quickly in an ever-changing world. With her expertise as a journalist, she can be successful in any field she chooses.

3. Beyonce

The beautiful and brave Queen B will always make it to the top of my list. Describing herself as a modern day feminist, she has produced a multitude of songs telling women to stand up for themselves. Being able to be strong and independent isn't looked at as a problem but a solution. With her talent and confidence, you would never think she had any hardship. She was able to overcome everything with the world against her. And she's fierce!

4. Adele

Considering this chick had to stop singing for her health and came back stronger than ever, deserves a round of applause. She admits her mistakes like giving up her career for a stupid boy. She has incredible drive and spirit to never give up her dream. She set records that almost beat The Beatles. This girl is amazing, and I hope she never gives up on her goals.

5. Taylor Swift

I will openly admit I am not Taylor Swift's biggest fan. I think she is a talented artist, but this goes deeper than music. T-Swift has this attitude about love and life that I admire. When someone does her wrong, she makes them feel bad and quite embarrassed, actually. She has this independent, FU attitude that I desire to emulate. Deep down, I know she cares what the world thinks of her – she often sings about it. But, I admire her ability to overcome obstacles that would prevent many other people from persuing their passions.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
