Step by step, you have your own routine for doing your makeup. Whether you just wear a simple everyday look, or you go all out for a night on the town, you enjoy this routine. I know I do. You watch tutorials on how to use that new highlighter you just got and do your best to copy the hot new look your favorite makeup artist just posted on Instagram. Let's be real, you love doing your makeup, but why?

Myth: women wear makeup to impress men.

We do not wake up in the morning and think, "Well, he does love the color red so let me find the brightest red lipstick I can to impress him." No. It does not work like that. If I am going to wear bright red lipstick, it will be for me, myself and I, not because some guy I like loves the color red. Most guys will say, “you look so much better without makeup, stop wearing so much.” Well, thank you sir, but I did not spend $40 on this foundation just for you to tell me I look better without it. We look good with or without makeup. Of course, there are times when I go out without any makeup on. It is about feeling good while wearing makeup. You feel great when your eyeliner is sharp enough to stab someone. So, no, we do not wear makeup because guys like it, because most guys do not.

Myth: women wear makeup because they lack confidence.

We wear makeup because it boosts our confidence. Of course, we feel confident without makeup, but it does feel nice to look in the mirror and think, “Damn, I feel great.” That is what makeup is about, self-love and self-confidence. Nothing feels better than feeling beautiful, and makeup is a wonderful way to feel that way. You definitely do not need makeup to be beautiful. You can be amazing just by being you. You can feel just as confident with makeup as you do without. There is no limitation on how confident you can feel about your appearance. The only limitations you have are the ones you set for yourself. Just because you feel the need to wear makeup every time you step out of the house, does not mean you lack confidence.

Do not let anyone tell you that you are wearing too much makeup, or not enough makeup. Wear all the makeup you want, or wear none at all. The choice is yours to make. Show your makeup off, and blow a glossy kiss to that boy who told you to stop wearing makeup. This is your face, treat it how you want. Just do not forget to take off any makeup you put on and cleanse your face. It is very important to make sure you are putting makeup on healthy skin. Wear your makeup with pride and do not forget that no matter what you do, whether you do up your face or not, you are beautiful.

Sincerely,

A Girl Who Wears Makeup For Herself

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
