Last week was the premiere of Freeform's new TV show , "The Bold Type" . Not going to lie, I was skeptical at first about the show but I had seen the promo all over and I could not watch any other show without a trailer popping up. So, on Tuesday night I decided to give it a try and I am so happy I did.
The show is inspired by former editor-in-chief of "Cosmopolitan" Joanna Coles and it surrounds three young women. Jane (played by Katie Stevens), who just became a full-time writer, Kat who is the Social Media Director (played by Aisha Dee), and another who is an assistant (played by Meghann Fahy). These women are close friends and they try to navigate through their crazy/busy lives.
After each episode, this show made me feel empowered with its message of taking a risk in your work and personal life. The characters challenge themselves professionally and personally by putting themselves out there. They count and depend on one another for support and guidance. We cannot go through life on our own and we shouldn't. The show is all about women building each other up instead of tearing each other down. As a 21 year-old women, I look up to so many women that create their own pave ways and support other women in their own journeys. In this generation, we are all constantly trying to be better than everyone else by wanting the most likes on Instagram or the most friends on Facebook.
"The Bold Type," is the perfect show for those women still trying to figure out life and who value friendship. The show is all about tapping into your greatest potential and creating a support system; it is also about finding your passion and not giving up on it. Life is too short to work a job you do not enjoy doing, take a risk, and go for the job of your dreams.
Even though, "The Bold Type' has just premiered, it is the show that this generation needs. Its message of women empowerment and living your dreams. I cannot wait what else this show has in store for their viewers.
