The funny thing is we're all playing on the same team but we are all convinced that each other is the enemy. There are two types of women in the world, one that supports other women no matter what and one that hates on other women. But why?
Living in a patriarchal society our lives are run by men. The mass majority of people who are in charge are men, they are making decisions about our wages which are already less than men. In addition to what we can and can not do with our bodies. Sounds crazy to have a man in charge over something he has no clue about.
Outspoken women and women that do as they please are looked down upon just not by men but by women too. Why do you care what another person is doing? What does it matter to you?
Women who have children who work are often viewed as bad moms for not being with their kids full-time. When really they are doing the best they can for their children. It also shows the child from the start that things are earned and not given to you. This is an important lesson down the road.
Women who don't breastfeed their children are looked down upon by women who do. Mom's, in general, are so hateful to each other because they believe they are the only ones that know what's best. When both options are healthy for the baby.
Women who are open about their sexuality are often viewed as sexual objects. Someone to add quickly into your relationship for a threesome. Women are quick to judge each other based on how many sexual partners they've had.
On top of the amount of sex, everyone is always pressuring women to have kids. When maybe that isn't her plan or she doesn't want kids. There is an overwhelming obsession in our society about biological clocks, and you need to have a baby NOW. When you don't you don't ever have to have kids.
It doesn't start with your friends hating on you. This system of women being tough on each other had started since you were a kid. If you had a male sibling you might have noticed him doing very little to no chores. While you had to do a lot of chores in comparison. This is just the start of it all.
Not to mention how cis women look down on trans women and often exclude them from the conversation. These are our sisters too, and if you honestly take the time to include them in the conversation you would realize that there are more things in common than different.
As a whole, women need to support women. We are the only people that we have the understanding out experiences. We need to stand up for one another and stop talking about each other behind closed doors. This doesn't just mean your friends or women that look like you. This is a call for all women to support all women.
