While growing up, I lived in the typical "American Dream" household. This consisted of the dad working an 8-5 job and the mom staying at home with the kids and doing laundry and making dinner for later in the day. The house had typically two to three kids. In my case, it had two kids. And you lived in the suburbs, in a cookie-cutter house with a dog and/or a cat.
Now don't get me wrong or anything, I was fine with the way I grew up. I liked it; I liked having a mom that stayed at home with my sister and I, one that was willing to sacrifice her job to be that "soccer mom." But as I grow and start my own life, I find myself not wanting to conform to that. I feel that women can do anything, if not everything men can do. We can have a high-paying job, become CEOs of large companies, lead meetings, start organizations, and still be married and have a family.
With the world changing more, we need to show that we are not good for just being that "typical" housewife that so many of us turn into. We graduate, get married, have kids, keep the household together, and make sure there is dinner on the table for our working husbands. With all that, there starts to be no time for our jobs or our careers. And we start to get lost in everything and don't pursue what we got a degree in.
I'm here to stay we can do it all! We can have a family, live in a nice house, and have a good job. My dream is to run a hospital. Will I do it? You best believe I will do it. I want to rise above the trend. I want to prove to other girls that they don't need to follow the trend. That if they want to be successful and be high and run a company, then they can. Now, some women are already doing this, and I idolize them. I believe that women are smart and can do everything men do. If you want to run a company then do it. Don't sit back and let someone else take your job when you have the skills if not better than a man.
In the end, women can do anything men can do. We can lead a company, plan huge events, be the bread winner of a family, it's okay. With the world constantly changing the roles of people and how they run their life. I feel like we can take a stand and fight for what we want in life. Go big or go home and follow your dreams, is the way I look at it.
