In this day and age, women in their late teens and early twenties are beginning to find themselves in the position of longing for a relationship. It is typical to try and impress those you hope to find a connection with, by acting in a manner that only they would see fit. Now, this may seem like a perfectly flawed objective; however, changing yourself to suit the image of another will only further damage your self esteem.
Allow yourself to be a woman after God's own heart.
1 Timothy 2:9 states, "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes." We are not meant to present ourselves in a way that is pleasing to men. The only opinion that truly matters is that of God's.
At this time in our lives, we as young people must consider that when the right person comes along, we will know it. It is no concern of ours to try and set ourselves up with someone before the right time, and person, has come into our lives.
The world, at times, can be a horrible place. With all of the terroristic threats and the crimes being committed, at such an inclined rate, we must concern ourselves with what truly matters. The only thing we can be absolutely positive of is our own salvation. And for our salvation to be pure and righteous, we cannot let worldly issues be the focus of our mindset.
If only we were to let God guide our hearts and our minds, the way He intended to, we might better understand the path He has set aside for us. Sometimes, you have to put yourself first and do what is right in your own life, rather than worrying about those around you. The only person you have complete control over is yourself.
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." (Proverbs 31:31) This is to say, beauty, or lack thereof, may be a defining trait for women, but beauty will not last forever. Having physical beauty does not equate to eternal life. The only thing that can truly define who you are is the size and purity of your heart.
Having a heart of gold is much more valuable than gold itself.
When you come before the Lord on judgement day, you will not be judged based on the number of relationships you took part in, or by how many men thought you to be beautiful. You will be judged on the condition of your heart. And the only way your heart can be in pristine condition is if you are surrendering it to God and putting all of your most important decisions into His hands.
Ladies, hold yourself to higher standards than most. Let yourself believe that you ARE worthy of being loved by someone, the only one whose love truly matters. See yourself through Christ's eyes, and hold yourself to a respect that would be pleasing to Him.
I want to be a light for women, representing how we are truly supposed to act. I want MY God to be proud of the woman I am, and be proud of what I have accomplished in His name. I want to be a woman after God's own heart.
