Say Goodbye To Your Old Skin Care Routine, And Say Hello To Witch Hazel

For most people, once you hit ages 12-14, keeping your skin radiant and healthy is a real struggle. We live in a world of medication, harmful chemical treatments, face washes, cleanses and diets, face masks, and excessive physical activity. We are told that if we are living healthily, eating right, exercising enough, and cleansing each day, our faces should be pristine. But I know as well as you that though some treatments work for most people, they don't work for everybody.

So, what if there's a magic, natural solution to large pores, acne-ridden cheeks, redness, and puffiness? I'm here to tell you… there is. Welcome to the magic world of Witch Hazel.

First, what is it? Witch Hazel is a flowering plant found in North America and Japan. In North America, it is often referred to as Winterbloom. Though it originally got its name from Middle English wiche meaning "bendable," it is thought that its role in folk medicine largely influenced the translation to Witch Hazel.

So, what does it do? Witch Hazel is often used to treat psoriasis and eczema as well as preventing skin dryness. At this point, there is little evidence to support these claims; however, it should be noted that in folk medicine, it was often used to treat bruises, lacerations, hemorrhoids, and sores/tears associated with childbirth. There also seems to be some indication of using it for gastrointestinal relief. Though, as stated above, Witch Hazel's healing effects have not been officially realized by the scientific community, it is a common ingredient in most hemorrhoid creams as well as a common treatment for insect bites.

Now I bet you're wondering, how does this apply to me? So Witch Hazel, though it sounds "exotic" and "unfamiliar" can actually be purchased at your small-town Walmart. You can grab a large bottle for only $5! Once you read the instructions you see that it is supposed to shrink pores, reduce puffiness and redness, and get rid off and prevent acne. All you have to do, is apply it to your face and neck after washing your face in the morning and evening. Then, BOOM! Better skin.

OK, so this is the part where you're thinking, "OK whatever. What does this girl on the internet know about skin care?" I'll be honest, not much. But as someone who struggled with acne (and might I add, acne that set on much later than EVERYONE else I knew) and tried everything to clear it up, I have some opinions on skin care. I've been using Dickson's Witch Hazel for about two weeks now and NEVER have a had a product work this effectively and quickly. After just a week of use, I noticed my pores were SO MUCH SMALLER. And listen, I have HUGE pores on my nose. Now they seem relatively normal. Not only that, but I usually have a lot of puffiness under my eyes and redness in my cheeks. Now, all of that is virtually gone!

I can't recommend this product enough. If all of that is what it can do in just two weeks, I can't wait to see what it'll do after a month! Please, look no further. Splurge the $5 and try this product. You will NOT regret it.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
