5 Reasons Why Wisconsin Is The Greatest Place To Live

The place many of us are lucky to call home is the beer loving, football loving, and cheese loving state, Wisconsin. People may assume we all live on farms and drive tractors, and I don’t know if many other states would be proud enough to call themselves something like “cheeseheads," but what’s not to love about the dairy state?

1. Summerfest

Milwaukee’s Summerfest brings bands and fans from all over the world to join in the (not nearly long enough) world’s largest music festival. What better way to jam out to your favorite tunes than with a deep fried something in one hand and a drink in the other (if you're 21 of course)?

2. All Four Seasons

Although a lot of us will whine, cry, and complain about the cold weather, it’s part of what makes Wisconsin, Wisconsin. We get to enjoy the freezing snow, downpours, scorching sun, and crisp autumn breeze, and sometimes that's all in one week!

3. Beer: Beverage Of Choice

Some may call some of the people here alcoholics, but we just refer to them as Wisconsinites.

They don’t call Milwaukee the beer capital of the world for nothing.

4. Go Pack Go

Although football games are just another excuse for us to have a cookout and drink, our true passion for football comes out when we are cheering for the green and gold, the Green Bay Packers.

5. Dairy

We are recognized as the dairy state for a reason. We have some of the best food because of it; cheese curds and custard. Wisconsin and cheese are practically synonyms.

This list is only just a handful of reasons why Wisconsin is the best place to call home, but who wouldn’t love a state as beautiful, drunk, and happy as this?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
