Winter Staples Every Fashionista Needs In Their Closet

As we're finally approaching winter, with just 11 or so weeks left in it, it's time we start making a list of staple pieces that every fashion lover should have in their closet. It's so easy to mix and match these must haves, and for a portion of what it costs to build your closet up, stick to these very affordable essentials instead.

1. Adidas Originals Superstar White & Black Trainers

Leave it to Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to make us fall in love with these Adidas Originals! From daytime casual to active wear, snag a pair of the hottest sneakers for under $10. They go great with absolutely anything, from skinny jeans to black leggings. Having a pair of Stans or Superstars in your closet leads to endless outfit combinations!

2. Faux Fur vests

These are taking over the closets of fashion bloggers. Who would’ve thought the vest I thought was hideous five years ago would now be one of the key pieces to my closet!? Did I mention it also looks great with Stans?

3. Culottes, Culottes, Culottes

Have a spring internship in the city? These High Waisted Satin Culottes paired with a pair of heeled sandals will keep a look fresh and professional! Culottes are also very season friendly. Not only can they be paired with sleek heeled sandals in the spring and summer, they can also be paired with a pair of tights and tall heeled boots during the long, cold winter months. These featured culottes can be found on ASOS.

4. Suede Skirts

Let’s go back to the 70s, shall we? Suede skirts are back and hotter then ever. An interesting, but admirable trend when you pair it with your favorite leather boots and tights. So kick back and enjoy a night out with your girls in this Suede Button Front A-Line Skirt available on TopShop.

5. Midi Coats & Tall Boots

Leave it to Kendall Jenner to once again blow everyone away with amazing taste. Her chic, yet modest looks never fail to make me want everything in her closet. I for one, have really been into Midi coats lately. They keep you warm, keep you looking stylish and sophisticated, and can be paired with just about anything, whether you are dressed up with a pair of heels or down with a pair of leather embossed over-the-knee boots.

A similar coat can be found on ZARA.

6. Classic Black Turtleneck Sweater

From skirts, to jeans, to leggings; neutral and black turtleneck sweaters can make you look put-together without actually really being put-together, if you know what I mean. It's a must have doubling as a scarf to keep your neck warm, and a great piece to go with that Midi coat of yours.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
