Body positivity has become a very commonly-used term nowadays. Everyone seems to be using it everyday. But, what exactly is body positivity?

Simply, it's about people feeling good about themselves, valuing their identity, loving the skin they're in, and using their energies in a positive way to stay happy and healthy.

Bodies are portrayed around us in such a way that only the perfect ones are considered beautiful, in movies and in the media. But we all need to understand that there is beauty in each one of us - no matter our size, skin color, or anything else.

We need to embrace that.

As the seasons are changing and winter is just around the corner, many people are probably asking themselves the same thing - am I going to look bulkier in winter clothes? Sounds like the perfect reason not to attend social gatherings, or even just to stay in the house altogether.

On the contrary. Winter, like any other season, is the perfect time to feel positive and confident. There are certain things that you can do to help yourself be the best you.

1. Avoid the negativity.

There are people in this world who will never miss a chance to criticize you. It’s high time to say goodbye to those people. Stay away from them as much as you can. Stop bothering yourself with their comments, because they clearly aren't your friends, and they don't care about your well-being. It's going to be good for you and them, too, in the long run.

2. Choose appropriate clothing.

Of course, you can wear whatever you want. But while wearing it, make sure you're paying attention to size, cuts, and what suits your body. You may be inspired by others, but a real sense of style comes by wearing clothes that you feel comfortable and confident in. Comfortable boots, wedge-booties, walking sneakers, or platform wedges are excellent chocies for the colder months ahead. Instead of copying your favorite Instagram models blindly, follow your own fashion sense.

3. Stay confident.

When you're not feeling your best, it shows - others will pick up on it. Your energy and vibes change instantly from the moment you start feeling positive and confident. If you start feeling good about yourself, the people will automatically hesitate in shooting any negative comments your way - so this is extremely important.

4. Socialize!

Don’t be tempted into avoiding socialization because you don’t look good enough (as per your own opinion). Instead, take it in a positive way. Go socialize, know about the latest trends, and try to observe others for inspiration. Share things and your personal opinions with the utmost confidence. This will help you improve socially and personally. You'll be surprised at how quickly you start breaking down barriers that you have created for yourself.

5. Eat right.

High carbs, extra sugar, and fatty foods not only make you look bigger, but they'll also make you feel lazy, cranky and dull. So, choose your food wisely. Eat good carbohydrates, protein, and foods that contain mood-boosting nutrients such as Omega-3 fatty acid and serotonin. It will make you feel slim and active, and boost your mood!

6. Work on your body.

Whether it is summer or winter, exercise is something that should be never be compromised. So, work out! Go to the gym, or walk an extra mile by wearing comfortable shoes.

It will actually protect you from infections and allergies, while making you feel more active, productive, and positive about your body.

7. Do what you love.

Positivity radiates from the inside out when you're happy, and the best way of achieving happiness is by doing the things that you like the most - reading a book, listening to music, playing badminton, or literally anything else.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that we all are unique in our own ways. We shouldn’t compare ourselves to anyone else. We are different, and beautiful. Instead of craving what you don’t have, start admiring things that you do have - your perception of yourself and your outlook on life will change automatically.

Never lose your confidence, and try to think positively as much as you can. Make small changes, think happy thoughts, stay confident, wear good comfortable shoes, and have a happy and healthy winter.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
