1. When first committing to Wisconsin, you were so excited to finally get out of your hometown.

2. When someone asked where you were going to school, there was nothing more irritating than the response “Oh, good luck! It’s freezing there!”

3. Besides, you never minded the winter at home. Why would you care now?

4. You thought you were prepared, as your mom bought you the heaviest winter coat she could find.

5. November came around and you felt pretty confident in yourself.

6. And then December...

7. Simple tasks like going outside to get lunch started to feel impossible.

8. You go home for the holidays and the 45-degree weather feels like a hot summer day.

9. You realize how cold-adapted you have become, and feel stronger than ever when you return to school!

10. Still, walking up Bascom Hill in the winter is so brutal.

11. You wonder if it will ever be warm again.

12. You swear that you will always make sure to appreciate any day of warmth.
