As much as us students love school, no feeling could compare to the joy a student feels when all their exams are over and they finally get to pack all their clothes and head to bed... I mean home.
What everyone thinks you are coming back like:
But really, you just ended a semester’s worth of stress so you know your friends and family are about to treat you better than they have every treated you before. You’re more excited for the sleep and food than you are for anything else. So really, your arrival is looking at little more like this:
You are more than ready to peak into your room, only to see a comfortable bed made and ready to be destroyed.
And so you immediately picture yourself like this:
You put your bags down, get ready to finally eat like a person who has their life together, change into something that will allow you to relax for an entire day, and then get interrupted by one of your parents or siblings,
Coming home from college is so bitter sweet. It’s like, you are so excited to see everyone you care about but at the same time you really do not want to see the people you care about. Suddenly you have the attention you were not receiving when you were at school and it is a little too overwhelming. Not to mention all the times when you go back into work or your favorite places back at home where you love the attention, but also wish to be treated as if you never left at the same time.
But then your favorite girls come over and everything is at ease again. You and your girls unpack your bags, which carry all of your clothes as well as some of theirs’… weather they know it or not.
There are even moments when you find yourself questioning your own style. All of us have our set of clothes we do not bring to college, do not wear at home, and for some odd, unexplainable reason, we do not toss those items in the trash either.
You might even experience those moments where you feel no one understands you anymore. Your mom is cooking the wrong foods, your siblings are acting upon those pet peeves of your’s which you spent years trying to prevent from happening… nothing begins to make sense anymore.
You also have to deal with a mom… who has rules… and expectations... like you spending New Year's Eve with "the family" or you making sure every inch of the house looks untouched before even considering stepping out the house for five seconds.
Christmas break also means a reunion of the hottest! You and you’re girls from back at home could finally get back to the GNOs that are well too known, the laughs that are never taken for granted, and the selfies that hold memories, appreciation and most importantly, likes behind them.
That is, if everyone above you doesn’t take it upon themselves to cancel your much anticipated plans. Because, lets be real, school work may cancel your plans at school but it sucks a lot more when parents cancel your plans at home.
The best part about staying home though is listening to all the drama you’ve missed while you were away.
You also may come across as a little more moody than usual, maybe because finals stress is still wearing off, so everyone is not afraid to point that out.
Being home also means you get to be your weird self again (which is always fun).
Really though, being goofy with your best friends is the priceless.
The jokes and pranks between friends and family start again!
Unless most of your friends come home with boyfriends or love lives while you’re still struggling to receive a text back from your senior year crush.
Not even that could phase you though. After the gifts, laughs, and rest you were blessed with during break final begin to feel like reality, nothing could ruin your mood during winter break.
Winter break is exactly that: a break.
That mood doesn’t last for too long though. During the end, you're parting ways with everyone you love again and it sucks, but the thought of having to encounter yet another finals week at some point may hurt a lot more...
You get another chance to succeed though! The new semester allows you to do better as well as to enjoy yourself with your friends back at school.
Before you go, you and your favorite people promise each other to stay strong during these next few months. In no time, the stress will end and the “litness” will soon begin again.
