I don’t have kids. I am not sure I ever will, but I am sure that if I do, I will love them unconditionally- no matter who they want to be.
If my daughter should ever come up to me and tell me that ‘she’ is a ‘he’, I will hold him closely and remind him that I love him and accept him--no matter what.
If my son should call me saying he’s been drinking at a party and needs me to come get him, I will. I will worry about punishing him later.
I will listen to him and let him explain himself. I will hold him closely and remind him that I love him--no matter what.
If my 16-year-old daughter should tell me that she is pregnant, I will be upset. I will cry...but I will help her.
I will support whatever decision she should happen to make. I will hold her closely, tell her everything will be alright and tell her that I love her--no matter what.
If my child should ever come to me about anything they have done wrong or are ashamed of, I will cry.
I will listen.
I will have open arms.
I will accept.
I will care.
I will love--no matter what.
Because if you aren’t loving your children no matter what, then you aren’t a parent.
A parent guides their child through life, holding their hands until they are old enough to make their own decisions.
When the child lets go to spread their wings, so should the parent.
You don’t have to hold their hand their entire life, just walk beside them, and let them know exactly how much you love them...No matter what.
