I Will Always Be My Daddy's Little Girl

Having a close relationship with your dad provides a girl with so much strength, dignity, and class.

There is a special bond between any dad and his daughter, but only a few lucky daughters get the title of being a "Daddy's girl." For girls like me, our dads are our heroes, protectors, and best friends. They are our rocks. I have no idea what I would do without my dad, and not because of the stereotypical "my dad spoils me and gives me whatever I want" type of way. Having a close relationship with your dad provides a girl with so much strength, dignity, and class. My dad raised me to be tough, enjoy life, and make good decisions. With a dad as a best friend, you learn to look at life with a different perspective. You appreciate the simple things and have the mindset to overcome any obstacle- because your dad raised you that way.

Growing up having a close relationship with my dad was the best thing that could ever happen to me. Some of my favorite memories include endless days spent at the beach, learning to fish, and playing sports with my dad. I was taught to enjoy time spent outdoors and that not every aspect of life has to be super serious. Sometimes it's completely acceptable to avoid responsibilities and ride skateboards around the neighborhood on school nights. But when push comes to shove, responsibilities come first. My dad always stressed the importance of being responsible, going way beyond what is expected of you, and achieving goals you set out to accomplish.

Girls who grow up close to their dads also learn the importance of loyalty. I learned this indirectly through sports team rivalries. Us daughters learn the importance of sticking with their teams, no matter the situation. Whether it be football, baseball, or hockey, the love for your team runs deep. This lesson translates into every other aspect of life too, but it is highly illustrated through sports.

I think the most important lesson my dad ever taught me, and continues to teach me, is that it is admirable and important to be an independent person. My dad was always there to support me, but I had to figure out how to deal with my problems on my own (with a little guidance...). I don't have to ever rely on anyone to help me get by, I'm strong, and no one will ever stand in the way of me getting to where I want to be.

I know I'll always be able to not only survive on my own, but thrive, and most importantly, I'll always have a best friend right by my side at every step of the way.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
