Those that know me know that I'm not all that into makeup. Today makeup is all the rage. Sometimes I wish I was into makeup as some of my friends are, but that's not me. I'm good with some mascara, bronzer, and lipgloss. Awhile ago I purchased my first MAC lipstick in the shade Ruby Woo. It took a lot out of me to make the purchase but I did it and I am in love with it. Just last week I took a trip to Ulta and bought concealer, liquid foundation, and a beauty blender. WHO AM I?! That purchase in itself surprised me. It's about time I step out of my comfort zone when it comes to makeup. I love a natural look and to me makeup is meant to highlight our features. (Pun intended.)

Let me start off by saying that all I really want is a lipstick; the 'Como La Flor' shade to be exact.

It's a replica of Selena's signature lip whenever she would perform.

When I first heard that MAC was going to be doing a Selena collection I immediately just thought lipsticks, but to my surprise it came to be a full makeup collection. Each product is the name of song. Selena's sister Suzette worked with MAC to create the collection. She wanted the colors to reflect her sister's personality on and offstage. All of the packaging is purple, Selena's favorite color.

This is alimited collection. To be honest I didn't think that it would go as fast as it did. It is sold out online and in stores. My friends and I were so anxious thinking that we wouldn't be one of the lucky ones in the world to get our hands on a Selena lipstick. We live in Buffalo and there is only one MAC counter here. We were calling MAC stores from Rochester to Canada. Yes you read that right... Canada! The lipsticks were the main ones we wanted; my friends also wanted the eyeliner and mascara.

The lipsticks were sold out everywhere I called and the stores only had a few of everything else left. My friends were lucky to get the last of the eyeliner and mascara at the MAC counter here in Buffalo! I asked if there will ever be a restock in store and the lady I spoke with told me no because it's a limited collection and MAC online might not even restock online. MAC definitely underestimated Selena's fans in my eyes.

ANYTHING FOR SELENAS.

To this day I still listen to her music and watch the movie Selena.

It also means a lot to me that my role model, Jennifer Lopez, played Selena in the movie. Warner Brothers could not have possibly picked a better person to play her. Jennifer Lopez's idol is Selena. How cool is it that my role model's idol is Selena? It all comes full circle.

So you're probably wondering if my friends and I got the coveted Selena MAC Collection lipsticks. Drum roll please!

Yes. We did. Thanks to my friend's titi, short for 'tia' meaning 'aunt' in Spanish, all 3 of us will have a Selena lipstick on our lips soon! All the way from Puerto Rico! It was meant for us to have one. All 3 of us are huge Selena fans so being able to have her signature lipstick shade is amazing.

To me it's more than just a lipstick, more than just a collection. It's a beautiful way to pay homage to the Queen of Tejano music, Selena Quintanilla Perez. She has been gone for as long as I have been alive and it means a lot to me that she still has an influence on me. She had her own style, did not care what other's thought of her, and always had a smile on her face.

Her goal "wasn't to live forever but to create something that will" and with that being said, 21 years later, she did. I truly believe that even if MAC and the Quintanilla family did not team up to create this makeup collection, her legacy will continue to live on.

I cannot wait to have 'Como La Flor' on my lips.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
