I have danced for the past 15 years of my life. I have loved every minute of it. Like a bird who can fly, I felt like I could fly when I was on stage. The feeling I would get while dancing up there is indescribable. The moment I got off, I couldn't wait until my next routine. This is why I dance:
Stress relief
Dancing in the studio, my room, or on stage was a stress reliever. Sure, sometimes it was stressful, especially when preparing for the upcoming competition seasons, but knowing that I'd be on stage, in my moment do what I love would relax me.
The excitement
There are some parts of the dance season that are very exciting. Some examples include, finding out who was in your dance class and or groups for routines, the class that you learn your song whether it be for competition or recitals, and finding out what your costumes were going to look like.
Striving for the goals
Aiming for a high gold or higher this competition season? Go for it. Try your hardest and you'll be able to reach that goal. Want to try to accomplish a trick? Practice, practice, practice. It took me 15 years to do a front limber, and finally I did it last year. I practiced every chance I had.
Making friends
By going to a dance studio, it is very common to form friendships. All of you in that studio have one thing in common: dance. You will be surprised on how many other similarities you will have with your fellow dancers. I formed two very strong friendships with girls that I danced with.
Self esteem
Dancing really helped my self esteem. I felt like I reason to be up on stage. I never did well in any other sports. Dance just clicked. I may not have been the best dancer in the class, but I considered myself a good average dancer.
Every dancer has their reason why they dance. Other sports can do the same thing, but dance was my thing. I hope to keep it in my life as long as I can. Even if it is just in my room.
