I grew up in a house with my Mom, Dad and younger brother. As a family, we did a lot of things together. We all went to every football game my brother had, they came to my cheerleading competitions and we took family vacations every year. My parents made sure we all ate dinner together every night, so we could talk about our days. I’m glad we are all really close, but you shouldn’t spend time with your family.
You shouldn’t spend time with your family because you’ll grow close with your parents.
This will result in you calling them all as soon as you get your test grade back, or give a really great presentation in class. You’ll feel the need to text them funny pictures throughout the day or ask to send you a picture of the dog. When you have a date or an important social event you’ll constantly be calling them on FaceTime so they can help you pick out your outfits. You’ll be able to go to them with any problem that you have, and know that they’ll always give you the advice you need.
You shouldn’t spend time with your family because you’ll become best friends with your siblings.
When you’re having boy trouble or need advice, your siblings will be the first people you text or call. After you go to the bar you’ll send them drunk snapchats and call them in the morning to tell them about your antics. You’ll complain to them about your parents bugging you to raise your grades, and they’ll interrogate you about the people you’re dating to make sure they’re good enough for you.
You shouldn’t spend time with your family because you’ll miss them something fierce any time you’re away.
Whether you’re traveling, at college or living on your own, you’ll wish you could see them more often than you are. You’ll miss the days when you walked into the kitchen in the morning and sat around talking about basketball or the Kardashian’s or something completely random. When you cook a meal on your own you’ll call your Mom 12 times asking her if you should put oil on the pan or how long milk will last for. After you get home from class you’ll get back to your apartment and wish you were binge-watching Netflix with them on the couch.
You SHOULD spend time with them because it'll make you a better person.
Family is key in every aspect of life. They’re your cheerleaders, your supporters, and your shoulders to cry on. When you’re close with your family, being away from them is really difficult and hard to get used to. So enjoy the time you have with them, make as many memories as you can, and definitely DO spend time with your family.
