Why You Shouldn't Give Up On Love

Whether you’re single or in a struggling relationship, it can be easy to lose faith in love. Fighting to keep it can be equally as daunting as fighting to find it. However, when moments of doubt cloud your mind and you feel like giving up, it’s important to remember exactly why love is worth fighting for.

It’s a source of support and stability.

When everything else in your life is crazy and constantly changing, love provides a sense of comfort in trying times. At the end of the day, you will always have your love to lean on for support, and you can be confident in the fact that they will always have your back. In a world where nothing is ever really set in stone, love is. Having one thing that is constant in a turbulent world provides a level of comfort that is almost indescribable. Love provides a pair of open arms and a listening ear always.

It teaches you to be selfless.

Through most of our lives, it is natural to only care and worry about yourself when making decisions. However, love begs you to consider how to care about another person and put another’s needs before your own. While it’s still important to care for your own needs, you have another person to take into account when choosing your actions now. You learn how to compromise and sacrifice for someone else, because you care. It’ll make you want to be selfless because your love will do the same for you in return. And through all of this, it will lead you to discover who, at the end of the day, is worth your time and affection.

You learn things about yourself.

Love opens up a whole new world, full of different emotions and feelings you never knew you had to begin with. When discovering love, you discover things about yourself as well. You may find yourself learning about little quirks you wouldn’t have been able to notice on your own, or having a change in perspective on a topic you originally thought differently about. Love allows you to uncover hidden truths within yourself, which can be scary at first. However, with the support that your love provides, you’ll be able to fall in love with every bit of yourself as well, which is equally as important as caring for another.

You are worth it.

Though finding and keeping love can be challenging, it is one of the most rewarding aspects of life. Love can make you feel immeasurable happiness and joy. The biggest reason not to give up on love is simply that you are worth the pure bliss that comes with it. You are worthy of having another care and love for you, unconditionally. Everyone goes through difficult time in their lives. Times when they feel scared, conflicted, or unlovable, but these struggles only make you more deserving of support and affection. Don’t give up on finding the happiness you deserve, and love can help provide you with spark of thrill you merit.

So even when you feel like giving up, when you feel as though you’ll never be able to find love, or that the love you currently feel is fraught, continue to fight for it. Love is worth the struggle, and you are worth the love.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
