Why You Should Write For The Odyssey

You see them everywhere. Whenever you're on Facebook, it's as if you can't escape them...no matter how hard you try. What am I talking about, you may ask? Articles from The Odyssey, of course!

The Odyssey Online is a thriving and extremely unique company that lets millennials share their ideas with the world. It offers a great opportunity to anyone who likes to write, and allows writers to share their opinions and things they're passionate about with the media.

Writing for The Odyssey, among other things, was one of the best decisions that I've ever made. Whether you've thought about joining The Odyssey team, or are still debating, hopefully this article will find a way to change your mind!

Here are 10 reasons why you should write for The Odyssey:

1. You can write about whatever you want.

Not only does The Odyssey let you share your ideas with the world, but you can also write about whatever topic you want...which is something that is different from other companies. Whether it be about your obsession with chocolate or the hotness of the next Bachelor, you choose what to write about!

2. Your ideas will be heard and admired.

Whatever your idea is, there is always somebody out there who will love your article. The Odyssey allows you to share your ideas to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. so people all over the world can see them! Someone out there is bound to love what you have to say.

3. You can make some money.

What?! Money?! Yes, you heard right! If you write for The Odyssey, the amount of shares you get on your social media profiles tallies up in the system, and the person with the most shares at the end of the week gets $20! It may not seem like a lot, but believe me, it can add up!

4. Your articles will spread like wildfire.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone who lives in Oklahoma sharing your article with their friends. When you write for The Odyssey, posting your ideas on Facebook and Twitter can give your article the potential to go in a million directions!

5. People will constantly ask you how you do it.

When you write for The Odyssey, people who are friends with you (or maybe friends with someone who shared your article) will constantly be telling you that they read your article and some ask how you do it. It's a great feeling to be acknowledged for your hard work, which is another reason why you should write for The Odyssey!

6. You'll have something to keep you busy.

Although it's not a ton of work, writing for The Odyssey will keep you busy. You will constantly be trying to think of new ideas and new ways to get shares, and this will overall contribute to your performance as a writer.

7. You'll become a better writer.

Who wouldn't love to become a better writer? Writing is something that you will use all your life, no matter what you choose to do. So help yourself today and join The Odyssey!

8. You can write about things that bother you.

Consider The Odyssey as your own structured, personal journal. You have a blank slate on which you can write anything you want, and you can use it to make a valid point about something that bothers you too. You never know, someone else could be thinking the same thing!

9. You'll meet new people.

Although it's a pretty big company, The Odyssey is formatted in tight-knit communities that allow you to get close with your fellow writers. You can make friends, share ideas, and just talk to the other people who are in your same position.

10. You'll love it.

So as you can see, writing for The Odyssey Online is pretty great. You'll become a better writer, make new friends, have new experiences, and maybe make a little cash on the side! So, what are you waiting for?! Join our team today!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
