I’m sure we’re all familiar with the job world by now. Been picking up those easy-to-snag jobs since around the age of 16… retail or food industry? The decision was tough. But if you’re anything like me, you’re around the age of 20 and you’ve already landed several jobs. What’s so special about getting a new job every so often? Definitely not the whole training process… but instead, the meeting of new people. You’d be surprised with how well you and your coworkers really could get along.
Ever since job 1, Dunkin Donuts, I realized that the main focus in finding a job that you like is becoming close with the people you work with. Even if they aren’t your “ideal people,” you never know what they hold in store for you! From my first job I realized that being friends with the people you work with can go a long way.
We all know it, working isn’t fun. But it especially isn’t fun if you don’t like the people you’re working with. So what if you aren’t social? There’s no better place to try and jump out of your shell at than your job. It’s important to be able to talk to your coworkers, get to know them and most importantly, get along with them. I’m not saying you have to love everyone and be best friends with every single person, but being friendly can go a long, long way. And you never know, maybe they could become your potential best friends!
Being friends with the people you work with is basically the key to having a good job experience. If you’re working with a ton of people you don’t know or don’t talk to, it’s clearly gonna be miserable. But having coworkers you can vent to, trust and laugh with is always totally helpful. It helps make each day on the job more enjoyable. And not only that, but it’s definitely good to gain some Instagram followers, you know what I mean?
Kidding. But really, my advice to you is to be yourself. Open up. Let yourself meet some new kind of people. You never know what you might have in common. Have fun at your job, love your job. But remember, first thing’s first, become friends with your coworkers. And you’ll never have to dread a day at work again! (OK, maybe that was a bit of a stretch.)
