This Is Us is a show on NBC that follows the lives of Rebecca and Jack, their children Kate and Kevin, who are fraternal twins, as well as their adopted brother, Randall.
The family dynamics are awesome
As you reach the end of episode one, you make the connection that they're all siblings and that the scenes with Rebecca and Jack are flashbacks! It was so cool to put the pieces together!
Kevin is extremely good looking (but also kind of a jerk, which makes it better)
Kevin is going through a midlife crisis as he quits his job as an actor on a popular television show. As the season continues, viewers are shown the complicated relationship between Randall and Kevin.
I am dying to know what happened to Jack
It's discovered later in the season that Jack, the father of Kate, Kevin and Randall, passed away sometime earlier in their lives. However, it's not revealed how/when he actually died.
Life scenarios are very relatable.
Kate is struggling with being overweight, and she meets her boyfriend in her weight loss support group. The show recognizes the stress that losing weight puts on their relationship. Randall struggles with being adopted and he does experience some issues with race, as he is black but raised in a white family. During the flashbacks, it is shown that Jack develops alcoholism, quite often leaving Rebecca raising the three kids alone. Those were just a few examples of relatable themes of the show, there are a ton more!
It’s perfect for the entire family.
Get your family together every Tuesday night for a great family friendly show. Although some of the topics may be a little hard to grasp for young kids, it's not extremely inappropriate or anything. It's great for a family with preteens and teenagers!
