4 Qualities About Jessica Jones That Will Make You Love Her

Alright, I know we've all read those articles about must-see Netflix shows, but if you haven't heard of Jessica Jones, you need to check her out NOW (especially if you're the type of person that loves a kick-ass female protagonist). If that isn't reason enough, here are a few ways Jessica Jones will steal you're heart:

1. Utter Badass

From her unwillingness to admit her fear to her ability to take a punch (and return punches), Jessica is the ultimate definition of a badass. She is a strong female lead character, who doesn't depend on any many to save her-- a fresh relief to typical T.V. series. However, beneath her bad-girl personality, you know Jessica has a lot of demons that she struggles with which cause her to recluse into an almost solitary life. She has lost an ability to trust other people, but deep down she can't help being a hero.

2. Overcame an extremely emotionally abusive relationship

Jessica is the ONLY person who overcame Kilgrave's mind control after he forced her to murder someone against her will. Because of what she was forced to do under Kilgrave's control, Jessica suffers from PTSD which she tries to silence with alcohol. Also because of Jessica's strength, Kilgrave continues to hunt her as she is the only person in the world who could truly "love" him (in a sick, demented sort of way). However, Jessica's flaws are certainly not damning, because at the end of the day she used her own willpower to overcome an evil man.

3. Secretly protects her friends to her best extent

As stated before, Jessica pushes people away in order to secretly protect them including her best friend, the homeless man she accidentally befriends, and Luke Cage. As the series progresses and Kilgrave's presence becomes more of a danger to the people she loves, Jessica realizes that her only way to save the people she loves may be to sacrifice herself.

4. Superpower

Okay, I know I stated already that Jessica Jones is a badass, but let me further expand on my admiration for her. She can literally jump off of a building and not be injured, stop cars, take on any person in a hand to hand battle (including Luke Cage). She is an incredibly tough woman who doesn't need to be 'saved' in the common 'damsel in distress' way; in fact Jessica has the willpower to save herself.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
