I am one of those people that won't watch a show for a long time if someone recommends it to me. I'll take even longer to watch it if it gets recommended to me more than once. I did that with Brooklyn Nine-Nine and have so many regrets that I didn't hop onto the bandwagon sooner. Here are a few reasons why you should watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine if you're hesitant.

1. It has a diverse cast.

Shoutout to Brooklyn 99 for showing a diverse workplace and giving minorities a chance to star in a show that is important to so many people.

2. It talks a lot about representation.

Captain Holt happens to be black and gay, something he is not ashamed of. In fact, he becomes a big inspiration for a lot of black and lgbtq people who hope to be cops someday, showing representation matters.

3. Peralta and Santiago are one of the best ships ever.

This isn't a spoiler because you can tell their destined to be together from the start, but even their evolving friendship is really sweet and very fun to follow along with.

4. Charles Boyle, enough said.

Boyle is so sweet and loveable and you can tell that from the very first episode. It's fun to watch him go from a character mostly there for comic relief, to a relatable softy. I think he has to be one of my favorite parts of the show.

5. It has a group of really quirky secondary cast members that you'll grow to appreciate.

Hitchcock and Scully are a dream team of comedy and are sure to get you close to peeing their pants with their antics and funny quirks. I also really love Gina and find her annoying and amazing all at the same time.

So, take it from someone who hates being told to watch shows and go watch this show. You won't regret it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
