If you happen to have Hulu and you're not watching "11.22.63," you need to start watching it right now. "11.22.63" is a Hulu original and is an eight-part mini-TV series. It's an adaptation based on the novel of the same name by the very famous author Stephen King. Does the date sound familiar to you? If you liked history class and know this date, you would know that November 23, 1963 was the day that former President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. This story is about a man who tries to prevent Kennedy's assassination, and it entangles the conspiracy of who killed Kennedy.
This mini-series has me hooked. I didn't know what to expect when I started watching it, but all I knew was that I was interested after I saw parts of the trailer. I decided to watch it, and I was engrossed. This show makes you want to know what happens next. It leaves you asking questions like: Is he really going to prevent his assassination? Will he give up? How is he going to do this?
Not only is the story good, but the acting is pretty good as well. I haven't really seen James Franco in anything that he's been in, but I have read some of his poetry. I don't like his poetry, but his and the other actors' acting are really good. They definitely incorporate Texas well, and the outfits and scenes are really well done for a historical fiction series. If you like "Mad Men" simply for that reason, you'll enjoy watching this show.
I didn't know much about the Kennedy assassination and the conspiracy surrounding it, and I've definitely learned some things after watching this show. The eighth episode comes out April 4, so granted, I haven't been able to learn everything. Also this show isn't a History Channel documentary, but you definitely learn some things you didn't learn in your history class.
The only thing I'm not sure about this show is that, although the historical background is good, it isn't as good as "Mad Men." It almost looks cheesy, but it grows on you. Be forewarned: There is explicit language occasionally.
I'm only halfway in the series, but I can't wait to finish it! It has definitely been a ride of heart pounding and wondering what's going to happen next!
