After the horrifying second presidential debate that was aired Sunday night, I would not be surprised if many citizens were looking for a way out. The presidential debate proved comical, a terrifying awakening since the reality of the situation is that one of these two candidates will hold the future of our nation in his or her hands. The two politicians spent their air time attacking each other over headlines that have already been over-publicized. Trump spent his time discussing his hatred for ISIS, Hillary's illegal emails and avoiding the recent leak of his "locker-room talk." Hillary spent her time demanding Trump's tax returns, picking apart his "locker-room talk" and lightly discussing her policies.

As an American citizen, I am embarrassed at the level of maturity that was nonexistent in this debate. Our two candidates are acting like teenagers; fighting over Twitter, speaking over each other and forever trying to make each other look bad. If this is not enough already, our third party candidate is making it extremely hard to vote for him. With his lack of knowledge concerning foreign disputes and diplomats, we can not be positive as to how qualified this candidate is for this position. This is why I am proposing a way out.

Vote for my dad.

My dad, Derrick White, is not only a qualified candidate but also my hero. A 48-year-old American-born citizen, my dad is a staple for the kind of man you want to run a country. He has been a Kansas City firefighter for 21 years, risking his life every day to serve and protect his community. He respects the opinions and decisions of others, not always agreeing with them, but respecting them none the less. He is an open-minded, yet strong-moraled, gentlemen who consistently puts his loved ones first. He understands the importance of professionalism in the workplace, but also the joy and goofiness needed to create a fun environment.

My dad is a wise man with the ability to captivate those who are willing to listen to his stories. His advice is bulletproof, proving true and right more times than I would like to admit. His support and encouragement for others are outstanding, proving his desire for the success of his fellow citizens. He is the one we look to for the tough decision making, he is the one we trust. He is an honest man with integrity and insight. He is an active voter and stays up to date with current events. He does have a twitter, however, he uses it to promote the things he likes instead of trash the things he hates. Plus, since our last name is White, we are technically already living in the White House so the transition there should not be too hard. So remember:

Vote for my dad, because a vote for him is one less vote for Hillary and Donald.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
