Yellow Springs, Ohio, is a perfect representation of a "hippie town." If you've never been to this small town, I strongly suggest visiting—it doesn't disappoint. As a matter of fact, I'll give you some reasons why you should make the trip here.

1. It is such a care-free environment

The people here seem to not have a care in the world. It is common to see some pretty crazy attire, typically excluding shoes. This town is a place without judgement because, quite frankly, no one there cares what you're wearing, what job you have, what ethnicity you are or what your sexual orientation is.

2. The Street Fair

Every year, Yellow Springs has two street fairs with 250+ vendors selling all sorts of clothing (especially tie-dye shirts), jewelry, crafts, primitives, books, etc. It is sure to be busy all day and jam-packed with things to do.

3. They are very eco-friendly

Yellow Springs really promotes riding bicycles or walking to get from one place to another. In fact, during their annual street fair they have bike valet parking.

4. The shops

Yellow Springs has tons of cute shops including coffee shops and clothing stores.

5. The artwork

Yellow Springs is covered with artwork—on buildings, benches, even trash cans. The town is decorated with color and murals that are expressive of the people living there.

6. Young's Jersey Dairy

Young's Dairy is a ice cream shop, cheese store, restaurant and entertainment venue with miniature golf, batting cages and animals. It is located about two minutes outside of Yellow Springs and is a nice place to stop to enjoy some ice cream.

7. How often do you come across a town like this?

Most towns are traditional or have nothing super unique about them. Yellow Springs is a refreshing and special place to visit and spend some time. Let's be honest. When is the last time you've come across a place like this?

If you have never visited Yellow Springs, I hope I've convinced you to make a road trip. If you have spent some time there, I'm sure you can agree with me when I say it's worth it.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
