Why You Should Be Unapologetically You

Everyone is different. We look different, we think different, and we all have our own stories that are uniquely personal. To me that's a beautiful thing. It's unfortunate that in a world made so beautifully diverse that there is an immense amount of pressure to conform and be something that we're not.

Never be sorry for not being a certain way.

Why? It's simple: the more unapologetic you are about the way you carry yourself, the more you'll feel at ease.

Stressing out about what others think about you isn't worth the hassle. It's time consuming and unimportant.

One of the best ways I think people can express themselves is through their style. It's a way to showcase your personality in ways that cannot be done otherwise. This is also where most people tend to shy away from truly expressing themselves to conform to what society is telling them to wear. When you change your outfit ten times before deciding on what to wear make sure you ask yourself, "am I changing because I personally don't feel great in it?", or "am I changing because I think others will think I don't look great in it?"

If its the latter, put the outfit you felt most comfortable in back on and you do you. If you're confident in what you have on, then it will show in your demeanor that day.

Style is one thing, but personality is a different kind of unique that you should never mask. Sometimes the pressure to fit into a group of people is so suffocating, that a person caves in and becomes something they are not just to be accepted into a group of friends. This is something that I saw myself go through in high school, and again for a short time in college, despite trying to convince myself it wasn't happening. It took a few reality checks to realize that finding people that like you for who you really are is so much more refreshing. If you pretend to be something you are not, then you'll miss how it feels to be free of the stresses from others' opinions about you.

Once someone takes the time to get to know the real you is when you can start to care about what they have to say. I say this because even though ignoring the negative is important, others opinions are not always invalid and at times can provide good insight even if you agree to disagree. Be who you are so you can find those people that take the time to value the unapologetic you.

However you chose to believe we were made, we were done so to leave our mark on the world in a way that no one else can. Never let others make you feel sorry for being you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
