Traveling isn't just about getting away.

Of course, everyone loves to travel. It's fun, relaxing and it's a way to escape from reality. Did you know that it is actually good for you? Traveling is good for your physical and mental health. Now how good does a week vacay sound?

Before reading this you'll probably think a vacation is all about getting away, relaxing and just spoiling yourself to death. Well, even though it does have a little to do with that it also includes some major health benefits. Prior to continuing your read, I’d like you to take a look at some of these interesting facts that honestly surprised me.

  • Students who travel abroad are more likely to graduate college and earn higher incomes than students who do not study abroad.
  • Workers who travel are more productive and are less likely to “check out” than workers who never take a vacation.
  • Research shows that getting exposed to some dirt and illnesses makes your body and your stomach stronger.

Makes me feel like I should start thinking about studying abroad next year, roll around in the dirt, and ask off for my week vacation….

Traveling also helps you mentally. It gives you a piece of mind. When you travel you see things that you don't normally see when around your home turf. Your eyes are opened and your horizons are broadened. Traveling gives you experiences that teach you perspective. No matter where your wandering heart takes you, you leave each destination with a new state of mind and sometimes that's what people need. When being stuck in the same areas for so long you seem to be close-minded and unaware of the many differences around you. Being aware and open to what is in this world other than one’s own views makes them a well-rounded person, and in some cases appreciative for what they have. You may not agree with everything you see or maybe not understand why but you will have been exposed to the differences in this world that occur.

Traveling teaches you to stay goal oriented. If you want to go on these crazy adventures to different countries and take these flights, we all know it costs some money and that means, planning it out and saving money to make these adventures happen. Having something to work towards keeps you motivated and keeps your mind on track. Setting yourself a goal like this is good for your productivity at work and is extremely rewarding when you reach it. When you finally reach that goal of being able to afford your travel it’ll make you feel confident that you are able to get anything you set your mind to as long as you work for it. If you find yourself losing sight of your goal, put sticky notes on your computer at work or in your car to remind you what you're working hard for! It gives you that extra push every day to work for what you want.

The most important things that you can get from traveling that makes someone mentally happy are the memories you gain from it. Traveling doesn't mean that it has to be something extravagant. It can be as little as going on a small camping trip to the mountains near you, going to the coast near you, or going into a big city for the weekend. A new experience is a new experience and it opens your mind and makes you feel happy. Go on little getaways and take time off for yourself. If you find yourself making excuses for a reason not to go, tell yourself, it's for my health.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
