La La Land is a musical movie following the lives of Mia and Sebastian, two aspiring performers in Los Angeles. Mia dreams of becoming an actress, while Sebastian desires to open his own Jazz Club. Ultimately, it's a movie about reaching your dreams, and dealing with the hardships that come along with following your dreams. The film won all 7 categories they were in for the Golden Globes. Critics have also named it the best movie of 2016, and audiences, including myself, agree. If you haven't seen La La Land yet, here's why you need to go see it!
The cinematography is incredible
La La Land is filmed in Cinemascope, which gives the film a classic vibe. The entire spectacle is vibrant, fun, and absolutely pleasing to the eyes.
Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are better than ever
La La Land marks the third time this duo has performed together on screen. Aside from their phenomenal acting, both underwent long months of learning how to ballroom dance and tap dance for their scenes. Gosling even spent four hours a day learning how to play the piano for six months!
The music is infectious
Songs such as "Another Day of Sun" and "Someone in the Crowd" provide an upbeat roaring jazz band that will take you back in time, while songs such as "City of Stars" and "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)" tug on the heart strings. Not to mention that John Legend also performs "Start a Fire" as his character Keith in the movie. With a musical lineup like this, it's no wonder the album is #1 on ITunes!
The dancing is simple, yet mesmerizing
The dancing in the film resembles to such performances in "Singing in the Rain" and other classic musical movies. Seeing these dances is a breathe of fresh air compared to today's "dancing".
The ending will make you cry
I'm not one to cry, but the ending of this film will make you ugly cry.
What are you waiting for? Get to the theater and fall in love with La La Land!
