"Cats smell." "Cats are gross." "Cats are ruthless." "Cats don't care." These are typical rebuttals from any cat-hater after a cat lover asks them if they want to see how cute their cat is. I'm typically the one asking if someone wants to see the newest picture I snapped of my adorable cat, Cat. Her purrfect fluffy tuxedo coat, her little white paws, and the speck of pink on her little black nose; it's really hard to not love such an adorable feline, and it's even harder to believe some people disagree when it's said that everyone should own a cat. Cat's might not act like they care, but they are definitely a positive addition to add to the family.
1. Waking up to the sound of the soft purr coming from the kitten laying next to you (that really does love and care about you) is one of the most comforting feelings you can experience.
(Please, try to tell me that cat is not extremely precious)
2. Cats are extremely low maintenance, which means you don't have to give them a bath: they clean themselves (and sometimes even you, too).
3. Cats believe that everything and everyone is equal, so they provide as much love to you, your family, and even your reptile.
4. Adding to their low maintenance status, a cat can be home alone for the day with only the necessities left for them.
5. No need to take the cat outside every hour; they're potty trained!
6. Although cats do like to play, they spend the majority of the day just hanging around, so you don't have to take them to the "cat park."
7. Their lazy selves also result in an excellent cuddly buddy to watch Netflix with.
8. Cats are typically much smaller than dogs, which makes them perfect for an apartment (or a big home), since they don't require a lot of space.
9. Even though dogs are seen as the protective ones, I have caught my cat growling at someone more than once.
10. The average lifespan of a cat is between 15-20 years, which means your cat is a best friend for nearly a quarter of your life.
Whoever said cats aren't great pets has obviously never experienced the love and compassion they have for their owner, their low maintenance and playful self, or their favored purring noise. How could you not love the fur ball that contains so many purrfured characteristics in a pet?
