Why You Should Never Be Embarrassed To Be The Drunkest One At A Holiday Party

With Christmas is right around the corner, not only is this prime time for Christmas shopping, putting up decorations, listening to the Christmas station on the radio, and re-watching all of your favorite Holiday Classics but my Favorite HOLIDAY PARTIES!! So many people throw parties and get-togethers this time of year because of the mood of giving and being merry and bright... I mean who isn't happy this time of year?! The spirit in the air is just contagious.

Whether its your work throwing a party, your family, co-workers, friends or loved ones here's why you should never be embarrassed to be the drunkest one at one of these Holiday Partys.

1. SOMEONE'S GOTTA BE THE LIFE OF THE PARTY, MIGHT AS WELL BE YOU!!

Though there will most likely be great food, ugly sweaters, Christmas music playing softly in the background, and a huge dessert table.... what is gonna happen when everyone is finished eating? Small chit chat can only go on for so long. That's when the booze needs to get brought out. Something about alcohol makes everyone more friendly and the night more fun. So go ahead take it amongst yourself to suck down as many of your favorite cocktails, wine or beer to get a good buzz so then you can single-handedly start the party.

2. If you are already drunk, more people will start to drink because you have already volunteered yourself as tribute.

This is just like an all you can eat buffet. Everyone wants to go and fill their plates full of food and keep going back for seconds or thirds but they don't wanna be the first to go because they know people will cast judgement.... but hey you don't care to be the first to go and not only are you gonna have a good time but others will as well because you were first. Slowly watch if you aren't too drunk how much others will start drinking because they see you already have a good buzz.

3. You are comical to the more uptight people.

I don't know about anyone else but I know I am such a good time when I'm drinking. I'm so much more outgoing and humorous. And sometimes it takes that in a person plus some alcohol of course (you don't care what others think when you're drinking) to get the uptight ones of the group to get out of their funk and actually have a good time. Even if they decide not to drink they will have a good time laughing at how drunk you are.

4. Drunk mind means sober heart... and boy does the truth come out when you're drunk.

This actually could end up badly depending on how much you bladder when you're drunk but sometimes it can be a good thing. Being a little tipsy at the Holiday party can give you the liquid confidence you never knew you had. You could ask your boss about that promotion you think you deserve, talk to the girl/guy you think is so hot, make new friends, or tell your friends things about their outfits/hygiene/lifestyle choices you have always wanted to tell them but haven't. Either way being drunk and saying things you think but don't is a good thing as long as you don't offend anyone or break any toes.

5. Great memories or stories will come from the night.

People will always remember how drunk you were and have good of a time it was to be around you. The party will have been way more of a success and they will laugh and have endless stories about the things you said, dance moves you whipped out and money you spent. People love harassing people about the things they did when they were drunk. So not only will you have had a good time that night but you will forever get to relive the memories into account from so and so... well until the next holiday party when someone else gets drunker than you.

So friends raise your glasses, shotguns those beers and slam those shots. There is no shame in being the drunkest one at your holiday party. Just drink responsibly, don't drive, and don't max your credit out at the open bar. Sprite and crackers before bed and a cold shower in the morning. Puking is a sign of weakness so don't. Remember the reason for the season and be as merry and bright as Rudolph's nose, spreading and sending as much Christmas cheer as you can. Watch out for all the miseltoe toe though it's cold and flu season!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
