We all have our taste in music, but I feel like some artists should be listened to more in the public eye. For example, Marina and the Diamonds! They are a cool electro pop group from England that made small waves in the music scene in the United States. However, me being a connoisseur of good music have found that not that many people really listen to all of her music.
I'm sure people have heard "How to be a Heartbreaker" and "Primadonna," which if you have, wonderful! These songs are both catchy and amusing to any person. Sure, they do not have the greatest messages in the world, but hey, not many artist do nowadays. These two songs are both catchy and fun to dance to! Which in my opinion, dancing is one of the best reasons to be listening to music. Plus, these songs promote this counter culture that I feel like should be looked at more.
There is more wonderful music out there different from Marina and The Diamonds though! The song "Hollywood," which talks about the American/Hollywood culture, is an amazing song with a interesting meaning and some awesome backbeats. Plus, the music video is just entertaining! I mean, it's a bunch of stereotypical Americans getting drunk and dancing around, what is not to love!
Now my favorite album is "Electra Heart" which has some awesome songs that anyone can go and dance to! For example, "Power and Control" is a amazing dance song, which also has some deeper feminist meanings to it. For those who have not read my earlier articles would understand that I love feminism!
Also the song "State of Dreaming" is just an awesome song for anyone who has ever been on cloud nine and can relate to feel like a god! Which surprisingly, Marina and the Diamonds has some songs that will turn you into a Primadonna, and that will make you feel awesome. Who doesn't like to be a Primadonna sometimes! The songs on this album just get better and better everytime one listens to them!
One of my personal favorites is "Teenage Idle," which resonates some deeper teenage angst in it. I know that I have personally felt this angst and can relate. This is one of those songs which will bring up the memories of how we all struggled to be popular, but now we can laugh about it because we are happy with who we are.
Seriously, give Marina and the Diamonds a good listen and make sure you are always giving artists the recognition they deserve. So go on Youtube, Spotify, or the iTunes store and check out Marina and the Diamonds!
