Hello my new smol freshman college humans! So, you’re new to the whole college experience, you don’t really know how to go out and meet friends, you don’t know what activities you’re interested in, and you’re nervous about everything. Meanwhile, you see all of these glorious relatable articles popping up on your Facebook feed, giving you all the feels and nostalgia. Well guess what fabulous people? You can write for the Odyssey, and be a part of this awesomeness! No, you don’t have to be the best writer the world has ever known, and you can get your voice heard -- which is a great thing, especially when you’re new to college. So, here’s why writing for the Odyssey is the greatest idea.

First of all, it’s great for improving your writing, because let’s be real -- even if you’re a good writer, you can always, always be better. Or, if you’re not a great writer, you can greatly improve because we have glorious editors (note from the editor: I am indeed glorious) more than willing to give feedback. It’s also a great way to improve your ability to meet deadlines (I mean we’re not great at it, but better than we would be) and can teach you how to be more productive. Not only is this a great skill for college, but it is a great resume builder, and a fantastic skill for future jobs and the rest of your career. Proficient writing is absolutely necessary for building strong resumes, essays, and just generally being a functioning adult in society. For me, it’s just been good to have something that motivates me to get things done and truly be productive. Oftentimes when I sit down to write my article for the Odyssey, it often motivates me to sit down and get all of my other stuff done as well.

Not only is it practical to join, but the people who write in our Montana community are the best. We have a very

happenin group chat where we talk about the most random and lovely things ever. We’re super diverse, and have lots of ideas and advice for each other concerning pretty much anything. It’s always good to have friends within an activity and be able to chit-chat about whatever. So, especially if you’re a freshman, this an amazing opportunity to meet people and get that networking in there. I also personally think it's just useful to consistently talk to and listen to the different ideas and thoughts of people, and a writing community like the Odyssey is one of the best ways to do that. So, if you're thinking about doing something new, why not join us, we're pretty cool people.

For the average 20-something, life moves pretty fast. You’ve got classes, friends, relationships, jobs, family, and whatever else we overcommit ourselves with. I probably should have learned to say no to adding more to my schedule a long time ago, but instead here are 11 things that can be more helpful than coffee.

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

For the past few months, I have not been my usual happy-go-lucky-self for a number of reasons, but one thing that has been helping me is to think about all of the little things in my life that I am thankful for. I know this might seem really cliché, but it is so true. I cannot stress enough how much better I feel when I think about all the great people and privileges I have in my life. It makes all of the insignificant things that I am stressing about or worrying about in my head seem not nearly as bad. I have decided to make a list of 26 things (out of many more) in my life that I am especially thankful for.
