6 Reasons You Should Go To Ole Miss Football Games

Growing up in a sports family I was taught at a young age that Saturday is game day. I know some people definitely grew up different and don't always understand why game days are such a big deal . I don't know if it's the running of the ball up and down the field or the fans screaming 'Hotty Toddy' in the stands. But I know that if there is any sporting event that anyone should attend it's an Ole Miss Football game

1. The atmosphere is amazing

Walking into Vaught-Hemingway stadium and seeing all the red or blue that everyone is wearing can bring chills to anyone. Who knew so much of one color could even exist?

2. You make memories

Even if you don’t realize it, you are making memories that you are going to want to tell your children one day. Do you want to tell them that you didn’t attend any of your college football games and sat in your room by yourself?

3. You get to socialize

One of the best parts about going to football games is that everyone else is already there. You can make new friends and grow closer with the old ones as you trash talk about the ugly color of the opponent’s jersey.

4. You get to be supportive

Show you school spirit not only to the men playing on the field, but to the men and women cheering on the sideline, an the instruments that are being played by men and women in the stands. All are being done by your fellow students that you go to school with each day. Each one of them put in hours and hours to make those sixty minutes the best experience you will have on a given Saturday.

5. You are able to be a part of school traditions

Some of the best things about college sports in general are the traditions that are tagged along with it. As part of the University of Mississippi football tradition, at the conclusion of each game, the band plays the alma mater as the cheerleaders and Rebelelettes link arms in front of the student section and everyone including the student body, who are also linked arm to arm, sings that great song to end the day.

6. You’re an Ole Miss Rebel

At the end of the day if you like it or not, you’re a rebel. Be proud of where you come from and scream Hotty Toddy as loud as you can. Before you know it you won’t be in college anymore and you might just be wishing to be back on campus strolling through the grove as you make your way to Vault-Hemingway Stadium to be a part of those great Saturday home games and sing the alma mater just one more time with those that linked arm and arm at the close of those football games.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
