To become cultured through people rather than destinations.

Think of how many strangers you have walked by. Countless, right? Now think of all the amazing friends and impactful people you have met in your life. They were once strangers too. So why shouldn't people embrace meeting new people when the outcome is usually something great?

It is absolutely amazing to think about all the things each person holds: stories, beliefs, struggles, and successes. Each individual carries a new life that can open you up to new possibilities or perhaps share something in common. Just think of how unique you are and the things that you feel define yourself. What do you call home? What do you think love is? What do you think is fair? What do you feel about that places you've been?

No matter what your answers are to those questions, we can all share a common meaning within each answer. The people in this article may have answered they feel kindness differently, but they all were in the same ball park. http://www.today.com/kindness/kindness-strangers-t...

Like every car, every food, and every destination: we are very different from each other. But that does not mean we should limit ourselves to a selective group.

Imagine a life if you would have just never talked to your best friend again after meeting them. How many experiences would not exist? Look into your dusty Facebook and Twitter DMs and see how many memories with people you have that reached out to you through social media simply out of curiosity. You'll be amazed. Each person offers something different to bring into a persons life. Even if it isn't friendship, it can be a lesson or new perspective. People honestly can be like books when by looking at the cover we judge until we take the time to read what is inside. Just imagine if people treated the dictionary like we did meeting strangers. The world would be so illiterate.

Although we are all uniquely different, we are all human. We crave connectivity and compassion. Although we may not be completely open to strangers in person, think of all the strangers you have met on social media. No, not the typical instant messaging, but the stories and videos you have followed posted by strangers. You know a part of them, and you feel compelled. They have made your days brighter or made you reflect a little more than usual. You have donated money to them. You have prayed for them. You have shared their words or have commented on them. You have connected with them.

Yes, not all strangers are good, but that is a chance to take. Even the people walking around you at school or cutting you off on the interstate have an impact on your next destination or who you may encounter next. The lessons and experiences each person carries is valuable. Trying to discover the world and yourself through what other people can offer is much more valuable than a textbook and cheaper than plane tickets around the world. Everyone has the power to make an impact because even yourself is considered a stranger to millions of people, including the people reading this article right now. Try to make a good impact and be open.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
