ARE YOU READY (for Rebel baseball)? HYDR! If you aren’t already excited for Ole Miss baseball, here are the top 8 reasons that you should be.

1.OU Stadium/Swayze Field

The Oxford University Stadium has one of the best baseball atmospheres in the nation. Beyond the right field wall, you can find students line the concrete bleachers cheering on the Rebels. Even if you’re not a Rebel fan, Swayze Field is definitely something that everyone should experience.

2.The Weather

Unlike football season, where it starts off uncomfortably hot and ends in the freezing cold, baseball begins at the most perfect time of the year. The weather is comfortable and pleasing to sit in.

3. The Schedule

If you thought football kept you busy during the fall, just try attending every baseball game during spring semester. You don’t have to worry about being bored because out of the 56 games that are on the schedule, 32 of the games will be played at Swayze.

4. The Stadium Food

If you don’t get excited over $1 hotdogs, I don’t know what you get excited about. When the Rebels play during the week, you can purchase a hot dog for $1 at Swayze. Talk about American glory! Cheap hotdogs and good baseball.

5. The Freshman Class

This year’s freshmen class was named the #1 recruiting class in the nation by Baseball America. This has been the first year in Rebel baseball history that any recruiting class has been nationally ranked this high.

6. The Home Runs

An Ole Miss player steps into the batter’s box and hits one over the wall, the fans in the right field, almost in unison, throw their drinks in the air as high as possible giving a shower effect. Swayze showers are a tradition that makes baseball season extremely exciting.

7. The Bottom of the 5th

Right before the Rebels go to bat in the fifth inning, you can find the team, the student section, and fans in the stadium dance along to “The Love is Gone.” It starts off with fist pumping and turns into a crazy dance session.

8. OMAHA

Okay, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, but with the baseball team having the highest ranked national recruiting class the Rebels have a bright season ahead, the chances of Ole Miss blessing Omaha this year are pretty high. If that’s not something to be excited, about I don’t know what is.

See y'all at Swayze!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
