Kombucha: A Drink Like No Other

Kombucha is fermented drink that usually mixes multiple types of tea and fruit to make delicious flavors. Kombucha has several health benefits, including probiotics, probiotics, and antioxidants.

When you pick up a bottle, towards the bottom you may see something floating around, but fear not, that's totally normal! Those pieces are called the symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria, or "scoby" for short, and they carry a lot of the health benefits.

Kombucha has become a lot more popular and easily accessible in the last few months, which I really appreciate.

About a year ago, my best friend was drinking a weird orange drink. We're both into healthy foods and drinks, so she let me try it. The drink was mango flavored kombucha and I instantly fell in love.

The next week we went to our local organic grocery store and picked up some bottles in different flavors. I enjoyed them so much that I would wake up earlier to pick up a bottle before school.

The first brand I ever tried, and one that I still buy quite often, is GT's Kombucha. I like this brand because of their variety of flavor options and taste. The taste is very strong, and may take some getting used to at first, but it is so worth it. GT's is quite a large brand that even sends representatives to events like Coachella.

Another brand I recently discovered is UpDog Kombucha. My university has mini convenience stores that carry local products and popular products for students to purchase. I had been buying GT's from the c-store, but then I discovered a whole shelf of UpDog Kombucha and decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did!

UpDog is locally brewed in Winston Salem, NC, about thirty minutes from my university. They have so many fantastic flavors, but my favorite is Happy Baby, a jasmine lavender flavor that leaves you craving more.

About six months ago, I would have said your best bet of finding kombucha is an organic grocery store like my local store, but, fortunately, it has become much more popular. Now you can find kombucha at just about any grocery store!

Typically if you wander to the fresh produce there is a refrigerated section with some various drinks including brands of kombucha.

Kombucha is also a really great alternative for alcohol if you're trying to drink less or not at all because kombucha is made from a natural fermentation process. As a result, it has a very small percentage of alcohol, but is not enough to be considered an alcoholic beverage. Kombucha is the perfect drink to have when you're the designated driver for a night out with your friends or don't want to drink at all.

Now it's your turn.

Locate the kombucha closest to you and try different flavors and different brands. There are so many options! A lot of kombucha brands are starting to have their flavors on tap at local breweries and even fitness gyms.

Some people are turned away by the strong taste, buy there are even brands that make getting rid of the strong vinegar taste their mission, so don't turn away at first taste.

More than anything else, if you're looking to get a healthy gut and want to slim down, but still have tasty drinks, give kombucha a try! I promise you will find that kombucha is the right drink for you!

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
