"If you're not doing what you love, you are wasting your time" — Billy Joel

Whenever you find yourself stuck between a rock and hard place, you often think to yourself, "Am I making the right decision"? Well, the answer is easy. How you ask? For starters, are you following your heart? Are you enjoying what you're doing? If your answer is yes, then you're making the right decision. If your answer is no, then let this be the voice of reason you've been so desperately looking for. You're probably thinking that it's easier said than done. Not necessarily! When in doubt, doing things with passion is always the best way to go, and I'm going to explain to you as to why.

It gives your life meaning.

Doing things because you have a passion for it is the greatest way to stay true to yourself. By having a passion for something, you develop a sense of motivation, which will continuously help keep you motivated whenever you start to doubt yourself. You will realize over time that by doing something because you love it, not because you have to, gives your life meaning and a purpose to only keep on going.

Work doesn't feel forced upon you.

Work is finally fun for you! You will never feel like you're not doing something that makes you happy. Even on your toughest days, in the end, all the stress and chaos will always be worth it because you know how much you love what you do. No matter what the outcome, you will feel satisfied knowing you're doing something you're heart is confident in.

You become a better person.

By doing what you love and loving what you do, you will always push to keep going and nothing will ever stop you from achieving success. Because you're so passionate about what you're doing, no obstacle can get in your way. By being so passionate, you will realize how much stronger your heart becomes, thus having a completely different outlook on life. You will learn so much more about yourself because you're no longer doing something you have to force yourself to do.

You become inspired.

Once you find your passion, never let it go. You will find yourself smiling so much more, even when you least expect it because you finally feel happy. Little by little, you will discover that knowing what you love to do will heavily influence who you are and your life in such a positive way.

Without a doubt, doing what you love to do is so important. In today's world, so many people are often blinded by fame and fortune, but lose themselves along the way because of the toll it takes on their life. By losing sight of what makes you happy, you forget about what makes you, you. Don't let this happen to you. Don't be one of those people. Find whatever it is that makes you happy and go with it. Wherever your path of life leads you, always make sure that you're doing it because you have a passion for it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
