I'm sure you've heard about the newest Netflix hit series, "Stranger Things." If you haven't, this new classic is a sci-fi show based in everybody's favorite era -- the 80s. It's well-thought out and charming; it's a show that I highly recommend you watch! I was instantly hooked by the charming and nerdy characters because each is so easy to identify with. You can find bits of yourself and who you want to be in each one of them, so why not dress like them for Halloween? Here's why you should be a "Stranger Things" character this Halloween.

The show is based in everyone's favorite era -- the 80s! This means that finding the pieces you need for a perfect costume can likely be found cheap at your local thrift shop. No one wants to spend $50 on a costume that you're going to wear a maximum of two times. If you're lucky, your parents might even have some of the clothes you need from their glory days of riding bikes around town until the streetlights came on. And if not, you can practice your sewing skills and make Eleven's infamous pink dress for yourself!

Since the characters spend the majority of their time outdoors, you can stay warm! Whether you choose to dress as Nancy, Barbara, or Lucas, you can wear a coat! There's no need to freeze in your tiny bumblebee tutu as you run around your town trick-or-treating.

If you have a large number of friends, there are enough characters to go around for an awesome group costume! You can choose from various groups as well as couples within the show. Who doesn't want to be Mike and Eleven? Don't deny it. Bonus: if you choose Eleven, you'll have snacks all night because carrying around Eggo waffles will just look like part of your costume!

You can actually wear your costume more than once. Let's be honest, the 80s have been coming back in full force for a while now. If you buy clothes for your costume, you can wear the pieces separately to make new, fashion-forward outfits for the rest of the year!

Halloween is just around the corner and will be here before you know it! It is never too early to think about what your costume will be. I can guarantee that characters from "Stranger Things" is going to be a popular choice this year. But there are so many ways to make each costume unique and individualized that it won't matter if there are three Will Byers at the same party! So if you're still caught up on your costume this year and don't want to spend a lot of money on something you'll never use again, consider being one of these characters!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
