Why You Should Be Excited for 'Hairspray Live!'

This is the fifth year NBC is putting on a live musical around the holidays. Previous live productions consisted of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz, and Grease. This year they will be putting on Hairspray and I couldn't be anymore excited!

Ever since I saw Hairspray on Broadway in 200_ it was my favorite musical and for it to be put on as a live television event is so exciting.

Here's why you should tune in on December 7th at 8/7c!

The Cast

NBC has pulled together quite the all-star cast for this production. Starting Ariana Grande, Derek Hough, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, Harvey Fierstein, Dove Cameron…just to name a few.

The Show

Hairspray is a show that is set in the 60s and covers topics like segregation and judging people on their weight, things that people are still going through today. For this musical to be put on during this time is extremely fitting and hopefully will open people's eyes.

It's Live

Live shows are always a gamble, you get one shot and you are done. It's always fun to watch and see how the show will be done and how it will flow. Maybe you will even catch a slip up, who knows!

Make sure to tune in tomorrow and dance along with Tracy, Link, Penny, and the whole crew!

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
