Why You Need To Get Away Sometimes

There is absolutely nothing I love more than being at shool. I consider Michigan State University my happy place. I have all my friends, my sorority and all the opportunities and experiences a girl could ask for all in one place. I get the chance to be an independent adult and figure things out for myself with the people I am closest to by my side. With that being said sometimes you need a little break from the place you call home.

Michigan State has so many amazing aspects to it. The education is great, the campus is beautiful, and being here has brought me so many great things. Sometimes though all of that can get the best of you. School work piles on and can be overwhelming, friends can become too much and sometimes you need a break. You can get homesick and all you'll want is your mom's cuddles and a homecooked meal. Sometimes being a full-time college student with about a million other obligations can just be too much.

The perfect solution to this is to get out of your small college town for even just a few hours. If you have the opportunity, go an hour away and just take a mental break from it all.

The other day I had the opportunity to get away from school for the day. A few of my friends and I went to a mall that was about an hour away. It was the perfect get away. We had a relaxing car ride, laughed, shopped, and ate. It was overall the perfect way to spend the day and get a much-needed break. Even though it is only the beginning of the semester, it is often the busiest time and sometimes it is best to just take a step back and do something for yourself. Going to the mall allowed us to de-stress and get away from all the nonsense that occurs when you're at school. I got to spend a quality day with my friends doing something completely different and it was the perfect reset button.

I encourage everyone to do this for themselves every once in a while. It is such a great way to take a break from the pressures of everyday life and just genuinely enjoy yourself. Sometimes you just need to do something for you, and that is ok.

After working retail seasonally, here are a few tips that I learned in order to make the employees at your favorite store just a little happier and not want to charge you extra on your purchase for being awful. Here are some times when you should be nicer to retail workers than you actually are!

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
