If you are a fan of “New Girl”, then you know all about Schmidt and his “douchebag jar”. Most people tend to have a love-hate relationship with him, but the truth is – every person needs a Schmidt in their life. He is truly the best of both worlds, the douchebag one minuet and then your best friend the next. Overall your Schmidt will be there for you in the end and has your back no matter what. Why is Schmidt the best you ask? Here’s why…

1. His Honesty

You need a friend who loves you enough to be brutally honest with you. No matter what the situation is or when it happens, you need his honesty. Why do you need it? Because deep down you know that your friend has your best interest in mind. He is only there to be the true voice of reason in a dire situation.

2. He Is Eye Candy

Let’s be honest, every girl needs a guy by her side to make her look good that she is not in a relationship with. Schmidt is devilishly handsome and he knows it. So what if he rubs it in your face a bit? Can you blame him?

3. Neat Freak

Basically your Schmidt will be the cleanest person you know. His OCD tendencies might be just the thing you need in life. Let's face it, he knows how to scrub down. Not only does he love to look good, but that quality spills over into his home, making him an instant maid and interior decorator.

4. Go-to Guy

No matter what you are dealing with, your Schmidt is there for you. If you need someone to have you back during a girl fight - he is there. If you need someone to ugly cry to - no worries he is there. Schmidt is an all around great guy and more than likely the best guy friend that you will ever have.

5. P.I.C

When you need someone to simply have fun with, Schmidt is your guy. He is your partner in crime. He is going to be the most adventurous guy friend that you will ever have. He may question you and your actions at first, but a true Schmidt, does't wait very long to join in on the fun. At times he may even come at you with a brilliant and crazy idea.

At the end of the day - it's simple. Make sure you have a Schmidt in your life!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
